Some developers worry that implementing accessibility features might negatively impact website performance. However, this is often not the case. In many instances, accessibility best practices align with performance best practices.
For example, using semantic HTML can improve both accessibility and SEO, which can lead to better performance. Optimizing images for accessibility (by providing alt text) also means optimizing images for file size, which improves page load times. Focus on writing clean, efficient code, and you'll likely find that accessibility and performance go hand in hand.
